SUZY'S
ARCTIC
SWIM
Celebrating Suzy’s 100 DAYS of cold water training.
Back Onside supporter Suzy Rook is preparing to take on one of the most extreme endurance challenges imaginable – an Arctic ice swim at the North Pole this June – and has chosen Back Onside as one of her nominated charities.
Originally from Crossmichael, Suzy is an ex-Scotland international rugby player who will attempt a 1km polar swim in waters expected to reach just two degrees at their warmest, and potentially below zero!
Last Sunday, 9th February, Suzy marked an incredible milestone in her training: 100 days of cold water dips. This consistent and demanding training has taken place across Dumfries and Galloway, often alongside friends and fellow swimmers who have supported her throughout the journey.
Back Onside is a cause that means a lot to Suzy – she has lost a close friend to suicide, supported family members through their own mental health struggles, and seen first-hand the impact suicide can have within sporting communities. This has helped Suzy understand the importance of the support Back Onside provide, and we couldn’t be more grateful that she’s taken on this fundraiser for us.
Suzy spoke to ITV News about her training so far, why she’s chosen the causes she has, and what she’s expecting when she gets to Svalbard.

Suzy will travel to the North Pole in June to complete the swim. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps Back Onside continue delivering life-saving mental health and suicide prevention services, ensuring people all over Scotland have access to mental health support when they need it most.
